What an incredible turnout in the April/May Canadian Paddle League virtual events. There are obviously a lot of motivated paddlers out there, and they came out hard to start the season. So far we’ve seen representation from B.C., Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, the USA and International; and SUP, OC1 and prone. If the early events are any indication, 2021 is going to be great and competitive!
Monthly Prize Draw
Here’s the draw for May, picked from everyone who submitted results in the 500m Sprint and Spring Classic:
Skog a Kust Drysak: Lisa Champion
Rally Beer Co. beers: Robb Hobbs
Infinity SUP swag: Dan Zucconi
Vaikobi Shirt: Stella Gan
Note: We’re reserving some bigger prizes for the end of season, for those that complete every 2021 event! Teaser: An Infinity Flash Paddle by Black Project.

500m Sprint Results

Dan Miller took the men’s SUP race with a smokin’ 2:41. It took a sub-3:00 paddle to crack the men’s podium.

Jessica Rando starts the year atop the leaderboard yet again, almost cracking the 3:00 mark, but Danielle Holdsworth is showing some early-season form.

Tim, Dan and Rob also topped the OC1 leaderboard, doing double-duty. In the women’s division, Carole Fullerton put B.C. atop the board with a fast 2:51 time.

Spring Classic 4k Results

Tim Oliver took the 4k race over Dan Miller, in what will probably be a season-long rivalry. Kudos to Brad Petrus who cracked the podium!

The female board looks familiar, as the same three girls topped the podium in the 4k Spring Classic.

Final shout-out to the OC1 paddlers, most of whom are doing double-duty with their SUP races. Congrats to Tim Oliver and Carole Fullerton for taking these races. We’re looking forward to more OC1 rivalries developing this season!
